Just replaced an interstate from Costco which had 42 mo. It went 43. They gave me full price on a new one but had to pa the difference because their new one went to 36 mo now and he said the battery cost them more. I didn't complain since I got $89 credit he didn't have to honor.

My Ram's batteries lasted from April 2005-May 2018. I hope the current set goes that long!

I got 9 years out of my first set of batteries and the truck got used very seldom as it is only a tow vehicle for us. I wish my boat batteries would last that long.

I bought my F-250 Diesel new in March 1997. The original Ford Motorcraft batteries were still testing good in April 2016 when they were replaced as we were going cross country for 10 weeks and I was getting a little concerned as they were now 19 years old. The truck is used only for camping (truck camper and 5th wheel) and is plugged into a battery minder when not in use. If the new Interstate batteries last half as long I will be happy.

I would replace the truck and the next owner worry about when to replace the battery.

^^^^^^^ This.

No matter how you look at it, your battery's best days are behind it.

It will fail at some point. Depending on how you use/depend on your truck.... It could be anything from a minor pain to huge needlessly expensive deal.

As always, your money, your choice.

When the Les Schwab batteries that were in our 2001 Ram 2500 when we bought it, I chose to replace with MOPAR branded replacements on 9/29/12 with 253,050 miles. When we sold the truck on June 1,2018 at 315,000 miles they were still going strong. the truck could set a month and still start right up. They were a bargan at $89 ea.
