Just bought this 04 cougar travel trailer. Slide out is only working on battery. I disconnected the battery, plugged up to service and slide doesn't work. Is this supposed to be like this or not.Any suggestions on where to start looking for the issue would be helpful.

Yes, that is normal, often times the converter alone will not have enough power to operate a slide. It normally takes a well charged battery.

Welcome to the forum! As you can see, there are certain areas to post in, that will get the best replies.

Hope you enjoy the new to you trailer! [emoticon]

No need to disconnect the battery. Leaving it connected while plugged in will keep it charged up.

How many times should a fully charged battery move slide in and out before it's dead.

Too many variables to give correct answer. It depends on size of battery, age of battery, how many times it has been at 50 percent charge or less. The battery will quit operating the slide, before it is dead. It will still run some things, but moving a large slideout is a heavy draw. A questionable battery should be replaced.

So best case scenario charge day before leaving, connect battery at camp site plug into service, move slide out. Keep battery connected. Move slide in when leaving. Worst case have to buy battery while camping to get slide in?

My other question is about the propane sensor inside the rig. When travel trailer is plugged into service, no propane on rig at all. The sensor for gas inside rig keeps going off every 2-3 mins with load continue ring. I hit test button it stops and will go off again. Again there is no gas hooked up to this rig right now. It is hard wired into rig. Do these go bad and time to replace or is there another issue I'm unaware of?
