I use one in the bed. I don't like where I put it, but I use it and probably won't ever move it.

I use the one in the bumper with no issues, I have one in the bed, but it is at the front for when we load the TC and will not work with the fiver. I apologize to all I have offended by plugging into the bumper.

I've done both but got tired of the cable rubbing the paint on the tailgate so I added one in the bed. There's a harness kit that T's into the existing truck harness. It's an easy install. My 2018 came with one in the bed already installed.
