It depends a lot on where you’re traveling. East of Mississippi the rv parks are almost countless. Passport America is well worth the price of admission for the 50% off.
If you’re far enough west of the Mississippi, maybe 300-500 miles and don’t require water and electric you can just pull off on a wide spot on the road, especially if you’re not using interstates. Campendium is a great free ap. It will give you lots of info on tons of places to stop. If you
consider boondocking an extra battery can help a lot. If you really get hooked a small generator is very good. For the basket cases like us, solar, generator and lots of big batteries can put you in some amazing places for extended periods.
Happy Travels!! This is a wonderful country. Go see it!

Another difference maker is what days of the week are you traveling.
RV parks that are full on Fri-Sat-Sun. are not half full during the week. My wife calls ahead to locations near the mid point of my drive, and makes easy reservations. Over night reservations are pretty easy to get.

We use RV Parky.
If you are going to stop at a rest area,(whether for the night or just a break), do not pull all the way forward in the parking stall.
Place the rear of your rig in line with the rear of the surrounding trucks.
You do not want trucker doing the cross legged jig, to whip into a vacant spot only to find a Jayco twenty feet in!
