Had one in our HH. Before getting it I thought it was crazy. After using it a fireplace was a “must have” in our current camper.

They are basically a large expensive electric heater. But do add some ambiance, and we use it all the time to take the chill out in morning or evenings.

Ah, the cheesiest of of cheesy!
But they're a fun addition to the rig and really do add some ambiance.
My TT had the option of an electric fireplace so all I had to do was remove two cabinet doors and install an outlet in the box provided by Arctic Fox.

Beware that there are differing quality levels of these things. Mine was a Dimplex, one of the most expensive and realistic looking units. They are nice because you have the choice of having just heat or just fire or both at the same time. It's a ceramic heater and is very quiet. It's thermostatically controlled and is perfect for leaving on at night. It also has low and high heat (750/1500 watts). There are several different flame colors and sizes.

If you RV had the option of one of these, I strongly suggest you get the same one. There are no end to the different sizes so if there's a particular model that fits, that's probably your only choice.

I'm sure one of the insecure types will be along to tell us how stupid they are - as always.
Ignore them and go for it!

Scott

My wife insisted on one when we ordered our DRV. I wanted more storage.

It's actually functional.

We use ours all the time when it is cold out. Works great and heats the 5th great. Unless it is below 30f at night our furnace doesn't get used. If the electric fireplace isn't enough (which it usually is) we supplement with and other electric heater. We love ours and all very happy to have one.

we use ONLY the fireplace and the heat pump when camping in cool weather,, the fireplace usually has to be turned off due to the area getting too warm

We also enjoy the one in our rig. It heats pretty well and the fake flames actually look pretty real.

Couldn’t have said it better myself. Exactly how I feel.

The fire place produces the exact same 1500 Watts or 5100 BTUH on the 15 amp circuit that a 1500 Watt ceramic heater produces. It is a big expensive space waster that is fixed to one location. I would rather have the storage space and carry a small cube heater that is stored out of the way when we do not need it.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
