Hello all,

My girlfriend and I got a classic 1977 Sunline truck camper (11 FKS Model) for a very reasonable price.....free. We started the large task of fully rebuilding this beast from the ground up. We have posted this build on the Sunline Coach Owner's Club Forum (for those who are also on that forum).

I did a project like that years ago. We had a blast in that camper and hauled it all over the western side of the country. We still talk about how nice it was inside with its wood paneling. It was warm feeling, homey and I wish we could still get them that way.

I always admire people taking hobbies and now is better time than ever to do projects at home.
Still the "free" can be interpret different ways in such situation.
The "seller" would have to spend nice money to have the camper hauled away.

If you want a project, you have one! If you want to go camping in the next two years+, buy another TC.

You are young and enthusiastic.
When you can't do much about 1st, work on being the 2nd all the time.
Such long projects get boring, get annoying, get frustrating, so spend time to keep it fun, or you will end as 99% of them unfinished.
When something stops you in your work - don't force solution the same day. Go home, have a beverage and think it over when you cool down.
Now some technical tips.
-don't put fiberglass back. It is worthless. Styrofoam or better urethane board have several times higher R-values.
-even siding come off, there is less dryrot that I would expect. So before you start restoration, make sure you level the floor on support. This way when you build it up, you can take construction level and make sure it is square
-glue for aluminium siding is crucial. In the past most RV manufacturers used corrosive glue and RVs had siding corroded from inside out.
-buy rolls of butyl tape and put lot of it under each joint.
I had Lance, where PO redid all the trim with butyl tape and when the "droplets" coming out look ugly, it prevent water leaks.

What screws are you using?
Heat-treated screw snap off with any movement and TC do have lot of movement.
You also need diagonal frame pieces on front wall for load carrying.
