That was interesting reading. What I got from it was they need maintenance just like the RV. On the strain common sense says take what you can off. The cord is supported along the deck with the drip loop weight on the plug, the dock ends coiled at the pedestal.

You do know that is a 30 amp twist lock on the male end not a NEMA 30-TT
The SmartPlug 30 Amp Dual Configuration Cordset connects to the SmartPlug 30 Amp Boatside Inlet (BM30S) on the boatside and a typical 30 Amp twist-type outlet on the dockside.
Yep, my Nash 19B TT is 30 amp. I'm doing a conversion and info from this thread persuaded me to go Smartplug (20 times metal contact is what sold me).
Picking up the pieces and I stumbled on this. Now, if I find a Smartplug receptacle that's 90% off...lol, call me King Midas.

I switched to a SmartPlug back in 2018 and have been very happy with it ever since.
I made a video of the installation:

If I could easily switch to a marine hardware setup I probably would. I spent 25 years in the saltwater cruising marine world before joining the muddy feet club.
There is a reason that everything marine costs so much more than its RV counterpart. Where everything RV is plastic the same item marine is likely to be stainless steel.

So with my $12.95 Smartplug cordset, a simple pigtail RV plug (NEMA TT 30P) to STS (shore to shore) twistlock (NEMA L5 30R) will make it 100% operational.
HomeDepot for $26.60 (less 10% Veteran's discount)

Ahhh, for under $40, I have a 30A Smartplug cordset for my TT.
Think I will start a thread in the TT forum, referencing the intelligence in this thread.

I would have the direct 30-TT any day over the adapter.

Will find out if I have masks or cordset today. I agree the best option would be RV Plug to Smartplug direct, but really didn't want to drop a few Benjamins.
The goal is to seal up all possible openings that bugs and critters can sneak in and having a nondetachable cable that snakes into a cubby hole is no bueno. This summer (we live in Willamette Valley) I saw hornets walking up the electric cord.
