We want to remove the fireplace from our 2020 Highland Ridge Silverstar. This rig has precious little storage. We won't get much use out of this "fireplace" and that cavern behind it would make a great cabinet!

Seems like a good reason. No posting help or support needed. Try DIY modifications forum.

Are you asking for permission?[emoticon] If that works better for you it should be easy to remove just take it out and unplug it. We use ours all winter.Saves a lot of propane.

We use space heaters. Same heat, small and easy to store. Lack of ambience is not important to us.

Sometimes it’s necessary to learn how to load these RV’s . Most fifth wheels have a reasonable basement storage I utilize about half of mine, the only time it gets even close to over half full is when I disassemble my inflatable pontoon boat for fishing and have it in there . I started out loaded to the gills , over the years have eliminated a lot of STUFF . It’s surprising what we haul around that’s not needed.

Have you used the under-bed storage? It's usually a forgotten hole.

Personally, I'd rather have the storage space rather than fireplace. A 1500 Watt heater puts out the same heat, is smaller and can be stored in a place much smaller than the fireplace.

we ahve two heat pumps and mostly run them and if the temp drops below 40 degF, we break out two small ceramic heaters. Run one on 1500 Watts and the other on 750 Watts. Keeps the trailer toasty below 30 degF and then we can run the furnace if needed.

It seems you feel about the “fake” fireplace similar to the way we feel about our dishwasher. Our last 4 fifth wheels had dish washers which we never used....they were used for storage! If I had been a good, make that a “real good”carpenter, the washer would have been removed and the space converted to matching cabinetry! memtb

I should have been clearer in my original post. I will, at some point, remove the fireplace and replace it with a cabinet. I like the ambiance of the fireplace but will be using electric over gas as shore power remains in the plan.

This tag a long has every available space stuffed. We have to pare down what we drag along but this rig doesn't have much storage to begin with. Also, most of the space it does have is a hear to get into. The under bed area has has struts but they're not enough for the wife to lift it open. Anyone know of upgraded struts or a powered lift for the under bed compartment?

My post was a feeble search for pointers from anyone who has attempted this or similar. Again, I should have been clear.

Bob, where did you come by the map in your signature?
