I am looking to purchase early Monaco Dynasty (year 2000-2001) and looks like it comes in two different setup, the 40' tag axle equipped with ISL 370 HP and the regular 40' equipped with ISC 350 HP.
Is there a Pros and Cons between these two? Also I am towing 7k-10k lbs trailer in the west coast grade, is there a little or big different in towing power of the ISL 370 over the ISC 350? Thanks for the input.

With either one you'll crawl up the grades. I'd guess 35 MPH on 6%. They are not designed as rocket ships.

But it's about torque and not HP, so look at that. I went from 350 38' Endeavor to 400 42' Scepter/tag and there was no difference on grade due to weight. The tag is however much more stable for passing, wind etc. At say $600/tire and maintenance you pay more. The rear overhang is greater and you lose about 3' of outside storage on both sides.

The Monaco chassis like many has compromises. Driving fatigue can be one and some have installed additional equipment for that purpose. I would not buy the non tag one unless both front and rear Watts links are available in case you decide later for that one. But maybe the Dynasty is better set up as I have no experience with it.

The ISL probably has 1150 torque, 200 more than the ISC BUT the bigger difference is a 2001 Dynasty is a tag axle coach that handles well. It’s also much heavier than a 2000 non tag which is probably limited on the CCC... the reason they added the tag in 2001. It’s true that once you’ve had a tag you’ll never go back to a non tag coach.

This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

BTW I definitely noticed the grade difference when upgrading from the 3200 lb CRV vs the 5600 lb Jeep on the Sector. But it's all good for a variety of reasons with the most important being that the GD loves the CRV.

That's why I posed my guestimate with your trailer. But sit back and enjoy the quiet vs (I assume) the screaming gasser on grade. OK my flame suite is on...[emoticon]
