One short surgical procedure and my life as I knew it and loved it is over! For nearly fifty years my wife believed me to be incompetent, stupid, and unable to learn. Me, do the dishes? Sorry but I broke every other one. Sweep the floor? Too difficult to find a logical path that would enable me to cover the entire floor without missing areas. Clean the bathrooms? What, huh, why? Cook, do laundry, mow the lawn, clean the garage? Wierd words which were foreign to me. But then a doctor advised Karen to have foot surgery. That didn't bother me as she still would have the use of one foot and both hands to do the tasks required of one of her gender. Oh, I tell you, my ignorance was bliss!! But then she had the surgery and, unfortunately for me, apparently the anesthesia did something to her brain. After we arrived home I started hearing things like, "Would you please get me a pain pill?" "Honey, could you get me a glass of water?" "Dear, is there any chance you could bring me a pillow?" Not bad you say? Well that was only the first half-hour. It quickly devolved into "Get me my laptop NOW!" and then sank even further to such as "You idiot, I said I wanted lunch at 12:00, not 12:01 now get with the program! And after that I want to see those bathroom floors clean enough for you to eat off!!" I tell you I do not know how much more I can take! I stole a few minutes in order to post this as a form of catharsis. Doesn't seem to be working. Oh, no, I hear someone at the office door! It's HER!!! She's coming in and

I married a liberated woman and just the other evening she said " honey, take me someplace I've never been before "......I grabbed her hand and took her to the kitchen.

Jokes aside, after retiring I took on all laundry, dishes, grocery shopping, vacuuming, watering all her plants. Lol
Just trying to stay busy.

Author, you have a too old-fashioned vision of gender roles. In the 21st century, things have changed a bit, and things are different. Through the articles https://studydriver.com/gender-roles/ you can see that gender roles have changed and adapted in modern society. What you are talking about is just sexist stereotypes that have no place in our time.

Mine tells me she needs something done and then tries to tell me how to do it. You want toast, fine, I'll make it, the way I DO. Don't like, make it the way YOU DO.

I listen to my other half. She tells me to do the dishes or cut the grass I hear her loud and clear. Why she has to keep reminding me for days or weeks is beyond me.

I completely agree with you. We still have a lot of people sticking to the long-obsolete gender-roles We are already living in the 21st century and everyone can live as they want
