I will be driving from Evansville area up to Indianapolis Airport in a couple of weeks and plan to take I-69 north.
It appears as if I-69 is not complete up towards Indianapolis. Is it best to take 39 at Martinsville up to I-70 to the airport?
If anyone familiar with the area could comment I would sure appreciate it.

Stay on 69ish. A couple of slow downs, but not worth the detour. I drive Bloomington to Indianapolis every other day

Thanks. When you say "69-ish" do you mean to stay on what is the old Route 37?
I spoke with a cousin and he said that 37 is a 2-lane each way with some traffic lights on it while they build the on/off interchanges for the interstate.

Yes, that's what I meant. Sections can't be called I69, because it's not expressway

Thanks for the follow-up reply.
I fly into Indianapolis and am more concerned about good roads for the return as I will need to head back up to catch a very early morning flight. I will take that route down south on arrival to scope it out for the return trip.
Thanks.

Jogging over to 67 via 39 is the preferred route. You hit Ameriplex Parkway before Indy and can cut across to the airport. I traveled regularly for work and have driven the route many, many times.

John- thanks for that added option/ information. I will consider it as well.
One thing to note is that my travel back to the airport coming up in 5 weeks will be on a Sunday morning to catch a 9:40AM flight. I like to allow 2 hours at the airport so plan to be there around 7:30. I am hoping that traveling this route at that hour on a Sunday will present little truck traffic.

Hey folks, OP here...
Y'all helped greatly a year ago on the question. I will be doing the same thing in two weeks.
Last year I took I-69 to 37 to 465 to the airport. The road was good albeit, I wish the interstate construction was more complete. That was on a Sunday morning (and during covid.) Very little traffic at 6AM.
This year I plan on leaving around the same time or so but on a Monday and plan on doing the same route.
Has any more construction been completed in a year? Not too much update I could fins.
How is traffic on a Monday. Need to make a flight, wheels up at 11AM.
Should I get going earlier?

Construction is more significant now. 37 is closed at Martinsville so all traffic is forced onto 39 and over to 67. They added some extra lanes to help as you follow the detour. I’ve driven the route a half dozen times since the closure. Most of the time it’s just heavy traffic, but on a tight schedule at a busy time, you might want to consider 69 to 231 to I70 at Cloverdale. It’s longer, but more predictable.
If you go through Martinsville, get in the far left turn lane as you turn onto 39 going up, then stay in the right lane heading south to avoid having to change lanes in traffic. Don’t stop anywhere in Martinsville as it can be tough to get out into traffic to leave. Going up, don’t follow the detour signs back to 37. Just stay on 67 and turn left on Ameriplex Parkway.it’s the next major road after Camby Rd.
