Last week we picked up our 2015 5h wheel from a dealer. They took us through a walkthrough and explained how things work. We left the dealership and headed straight for a campground. The next morning when it was quiet, we noticed a humming noise. We cannot figure out where the sound is coming from. We did not notice it during the walkthrough, but that could have been because of the noise. The fireplace sits towards the front right by where the steps are to walk up to the bedroom. We can hear the sound in the 5th wheel as well as in the pass-through storage. Any ideas on what could be causing this? We never noticed this sound on our TT. This coach does have a residential fridge that sits farther back in the living space, but the sound is not coming from the fridge.

More than likely the fan on your converter. The hum will change depending on the load on the converter at any particular point in time.

It could be a number of things. I would check that your water pump isn't running constantly. Easy to check. If it's on, turn it off. If the humming stops, that's the issue. It could also be the converter fan. Unplug from campground power and undo the battery disconnect. If the humming stops, it's the converter cooling fan making the noise. It could also be the fireplace motor. To check this, turn it off. If the noise stops, that's the culprit.

I asked him to do one thing and he didn't do any of them.

Your 5th wheel is happy that you bought it and taking it on a trip....

I'd also suspect the converter. If you have a ferroresonant converter (somewhat doubtful with that new of an RV, I'd think), they can hum quite distinctively all the time if the transformer or its windings are at all loose. It's not a problem beyond the possible annoyance. Other converters can also make various noises from fans and such.

I know it's not the water pump. I wondered if it could be the converter (Xantrex Pro XM1000). But even now sitting in my driveway, closed up and winterized, but still hooked to shore power, I am hearing the noise. Would this be normal? The residential fridge is still on.

Xantrex Pro XM1000 is an 'INVERTER' used to inverter DC (from batteries) to AC for that residential fridge

'CONVERTER' used to converter AC from AC Source (shore/gen) to DC for the 12V System and maintaining/charging batteries

You could have BOTH...Inverter and Converter

If you unplug shore power then Converter will stop operating --- Converter Fan
Should stop as it is AC Powered

If you turn off Inverter....then it will stop
Inverter Manual

Determine which one is making the noise.
Humming could be 'Normal' or an indication of component failing

I have a Xantrex Inverter that is going bad... The internal transfer/bypass switch is sticking... While that was / is going on, it developed a humming sound as well..

ASSUMING that will all go away once I replace it

The fan on my inverter is pretty loud. I turn it off if plugged in to shore power.

If you are rigged for a generator then I would suspect the ATF(auto transfer switch).
