my reception with my air antenna works well in my driveway but at various campgrounds get no channels at all. These campgrounds are not remote and near densely populated areas. I know the boost works and the selector in set at antenna. I don not want to go to an rv service center near home and pay big labor rates for them to tell me all is well. also all cables to the selector box are secure. help

Did you rescan the TV after you moved the TT?

Have you allowed your TV to do a "search" of channels that are available for over the air reception? Also have you made sure at remote locations that you change your TV input, on the TV itself, to use the roof antenna?

Maybe your TV is like mine . Each time we set up camp in a different
location I have to do a channel search .
Its not like old tvs these newer TVs have to find and program themselves for
each channel it finds .
Go to menu then channels then auto channel search .
Mine is annoying because it takes so long it tells me this may take up to 20
minutes .
Don't think it ever took that long but its still to long .
I have a sensor device that helps me locate the direction of stations first .

Head of antenna has to be AIMMED at the TV Towers
Then AUTO Scan.
Anytime you relocate.......have to aim/auto scan

Most of the antennas on newer rigs are omnidirectional, so don't have the rotating feature anymore. You just re-scan after relocating.

My first question is "What antenna" The three primary antennas used on RV's are the Wineguard Roadstar (Looks like a flying saucer and I will say NOTHING nice about it other than it's cute.. There is a "Delux" verson that's not all that bad but I don't know the model (it is direcitonal)
THe winegard Sensar II or III (The good old batwing No "Beak"
The winegard Sensar IV (Like III but with a beak) Also the II or III+Wingman
(These should all be about equal but I think the IV might be a bit better
And the two JACK models (directional and omni)
Omni anteenas (Roadstar jack Omni) work equally bad in all directions is the joke.
My Choice Sensar IV (Winegard)
Next is a 2nd pre-amp. The Sensar PRO NOTE this is designed SPECIFICALLY to repalce the existing wall plate or if you have a Matrix Switch (Box of many buttons) to go between it and the roof. I do not recommend other pre-amps.
THe Sensar Pro is an amazing collection of things
Additional amplification (Or attenuation if needed)
Signal searcher
Signal strength meter
With audio read out (optional)
How I do it with the Pro
Two ways. One is to hit the button and "Quarter" the anteanna (Turn it N/S/E/W) lookign for the best. Each time I have to cycle the button through the modes to get a re-scan it shows the STRONGEST and then in the next mode you can cyclew through all the carriers it found.
You can PEAK on any one (I like to peak on the 2nd or 3rd strongest) then scan your TV.
Home is where I park it.

I built my own on my previous MH,it replaced my batwing,made from pvc fence picket & heavy copper wire it got 22-28 channels consistently, google homemade Dtv antenna

Shouldn't be a problem, as our old batwing works well.
Usually leave it straight ahead and scan all TV's.
If needed, rotate CW a few degrees and recheck along with a rescan if necessary.
We usually ignore the park cable service, since they're most always analog signals.
