If they charge by weight they HAVE to have a certified scale. I forget the spec on certified scales but it's pretty tight.
Yes, it's correct.

Well our 2016 Ram 3500 DRW, HO, Aisin, and 5er prep has a GVWR of 14,000 and a payload of 5,411# making the empty weight 8,589# so I would say ball park. As a side note ready to tow with hitch and my in bed tool box or Ram scales 10,000#.

I'd say it is. Our '03 F250 PSD, 4x4, sb, cc 50 gallon Transferflow tank came in at 8500. Then our '15 F350 PSD (same everything else as the '03) was 8700. Finally weighed the '17 few weeks ago after owning it for 2.5 years and it comes in at 9100.

Maybe the factory base weight for a 3500 SRW, reg cab, long bed, Tradesman, 5.7 or 6.7 Hemi.
What is the sticker Payload on your truck? Subtract that from your GVWR and it should be what the truck weighed as it left the factory with a 150# driver and full fuel.

burbman wrote: I just went back and looked at the GVWR, which is listed at 12,300. The door sticker says 4292 cargo capacity, so 12300 - 4292 = 8008 empty, add in me, side steps, tonneau, front hitch, and some misc stuff in the truck and I guess the scale is pretty close.

Be sure and call DMV, and let them know you aren't paying enough tab fees each year.
Welcome to my home, that door you just broke down was there for your protection not mine.

Agree. 4th gens gained some weight from 3rd gens which gained weight from 2nd gens.
Last dump run with the 07 Mega Cab, 7900 lbs with me, handful of tools behind the seat and an unknown amount of fuel.
The 6.7, big auto trans and chassis upgrades of 4th gen, that sounds about right.
