Not if you are careful removing the old seal and installing the new seal. I yank the old seal out using a needle nose pliers and then very carefully insert the new seal being sure to get the seal in the slot around the rim of the opening. You'll have to hold the blade back using the foot pedal while doing this. pay attention to the orientation of the old seal so you get the new seal in the same way.

I prefer to separate the bowl/base and R/R bowl seal PLUS cleanup ball valve and check/lube the pivot points on ball
