Wow, 7th grade Jr high gym class, announcement came over school intercom system. Just went home numb, mom was crying when I got there.

Going over my newly delivered 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 XL with my mechanic torqueing all the bolts. Shocking news came over the radio. I still have the Galaxie by the way.

Senior in High School. Civics class. A girl opened the classroom door and just walked in. That just was not done. Even the teacher was shocked. Her words were short: "The president's been shot". Then she lost it started bawling and ran out of the classroom. Several of the girls started crying. The boys were looking surly like they could do *something* just given the chance.
We went out on the "quad". Teachers and students were just aimless milling around. We headed for our automobiles. We tuned radios to a mishmash of voices. "Gunshots. Dealy Plaza. Parkland Hospital. First lady with blood on her dress."
Like other infamous dates, I intend to keep this as a permanent marker place in my life.

I was studying for a mid-term exam in English Lit at a Big 10 university. But spent the afternoon in front of the lounge TV until exam time at 4:30pm. Went to the exam. Did poorly.

I was 10 yrs old and had stayed home from school cause I was not feeling good
Snuggled up with blanket on couch in Den watching TV
An old movie about Abe Lincoln was playing
When Abe was at the Ford Theatre....
Walter Cronkite broke in with News Flash that President Kennedy had been shot.
I ran upstairs and told Mom..."Yes honey I have seen that movie"
I then had to convince your it was Kennedy not Lincoln
We sat together watching TV and cried.
Dad was out on an oil rig in no-mans land and didn't hear about it for 2 days when a Company man came out to the rig location

I was in 3rd grade, out on the playground. My friend's older sister came out and told us, and we didn't believe her. Then we went in and all the teachers had on TV news.

I was 6, 1st grade. I remember school was closed and we were sent home. I didn't understand the seriousness of the news until I got home.

I was in 2nd grade. They announced it over the PA. Our teacher ran out of the room crying. We were not really aware of the magnitude at that early age. The principal came to our room to lead us to the auditorium where we waited for awhile until school was dismissed to go home. I remember all the teachers outside were crying and trying to get the bus students on their way.
