I need a new light duty PSW inverter. Any comments regarding Bestek?

No way will you do 300w with the 12v plug-in. The socket will be more like a 96w limit. If you can modify it to use clamps on the wires to go right on a battery, that would be a very good deal at that price.

Most vehicle 12V plugs have 20A or 30A fuses. 20A @ 12V is 240W.

Not sure if this unit can handle 300W on an "extended" basis. I don't know if I would be comfortable enough to leave a 250+W load plugged in to a cigarette lighter UNATTENDED !

BFL, it’s for my TV. Uses 45 watts plus inverter loss, so it will work. TY for responding. You too Wizard.

I'd have to run the numbers but using a PSW sure sounds preferable to a MSW.

300W should run a phone, the dashcam, the GPS & a laptop.

I do believe the max for 12v vehicle outlets is a 15 amp fuse.

I am satisfied with my Samlex 300 PSW. Anker makes excellent USB chargers for cigarette light user.

True to form Orientals make true garbage power connectors. A Blue Seas marine plug and socket fed by a dedicated TEN AWG cable and 30-amp fuse I'd the ideal power feeder.

I was going by the socket in an RV Winegard TV panel, which is on thin wire and rated for 96w/8 amps and a 10 amp fuse (at least that was how it was in the 2003 5er we had.)

Don't know about actual cigarette lighter sockets in a dashboard. They are on the engine battery if that matters.

There is another version of the same inverter near the bottom of that Amazon page. It allows for threaded stud connections. Suggest you get this one and use no. 8 wire to connect direct to the battery. This will give you full output current ability.

I mounted my 300w inverter behind the power distribution panel. Use the main 12v battery feed for power and a small transfer switch to connect to each branch circuit of outlets.

No experience with BESTEK. Probably fine.
