Mine has the button on the door handle , so if it senses the fob , the door will open if anyone hits the button.

so does ours but the key has to be outside the vehicle for it to work. I tried it with the wife sitting in the car with her key and it worked just fine. the new ones are a lot smarter than people give them credit for. Just try it put your spair key in the glove box, lock the truck and put the key you have in the house or 100 feet away or so and then try open your truck. I bet the newer fords wont open unless that key is fairly close and outside the vehicle, but you wont know till you try it.

heck even my house door lock that works on bluetooth and wifi can tell the difference between me being inside the house or outside when I try to unlock the door.

I am more than a little puzzled. If you lose your key, what good is it to have the spare locked into the cab?
....

As i mentioned in my original post: I have a keypad on the truck so I could be without keys outside of the locked truck... enter my code, open the door, grab the hidden keys, and drive on. ;-)

I just hide the spare truck key in the camper. Then hide a spare camper key in a secret place that is accessible from outside the camper.

Take the battery out of the key fob, hide both in cab. Very simple to remove and replace battery.

X2 plus you don't need to put the battery in to start the truck just drop the fob into the bottom of the cup holder
