My Wife Mary passed away on November 3rd. I called The VA to let them know.
I have since, moved to the Riogrande Valley of South Texas. When I failed to get the Deposit of my VA Check this Month, I called the regional Office for Texas.
They told me when I reported Mary's death, they mistakenly reported, that I had died instead of her.
The regional Office told me that the Office in Nashville should call me within 5 Days from when I called.
They told me if they haven't called by January the 8th, to call them back.
I also haven't received any stimulus Money in my SS account like I did the last one.
I am going to the Social Security Office tomorrow Morning to make sure the VA didn't report to them that I am dead.
I usually get my Social Security on the 2nd Wednesday of each Month. If I wait until then and I do not get it, I will be totally screwed. Is there anything else I should do? Thanks.

Have you checked online through the SS site? It will show if you have a deposit coming.
Sorry for your loss.

Re Stimulus. Some have gotten it, some (me last I checked) still waiting (have not checked yet today)
Re; VA.. you might wish to seek an advocate these folks work with the VA to fix screw ups like the one that is affecting you...
It's a Federal agency.. Screw ups are.. Far too common.
Home is where I park it.

No advice but just wanted to send my sympathies on your loss.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be Douglas Adams
RV-less for now but our spirits are still on the open road.

Thanks for the replies. As for the SS, I did check with the Social Security website. It shows a pending deposit. Ir looks like I am ok there. Now I only have to worry about the VA.

Seems this round of stimulus checks are going out by alphabet
SS ... go to your account on-line and check out info/payments
**if you do not have one Set One UP
VA ... do NOT wait for them to correct.. Call, Call, Call until you get it reversed and make sure you have them Send Confirmation
**I have had to deal with VA screw up in past and YOU have to be PROACTIVE

Contact a DAV, VFW or American Legion VSO located at a VA Regional Office (VARO) for assistance. The ones at the VARO are paid full time professionals and can be very helpful in these matters. They work for you without charge and not the VA.
