A guy was on Facebook looking for a bed to replace his damaged one. Seems his trailer came loose and crunched his bed. I was concerned because I could see the hitch was a B&W Companion.
Take a look.

Sure looks like that B & W held together.... The jaws are still closed with a PART of the kingpin still locked in , pinbox/kingpin failure ?
Looks like it has Rhino Box stickers on the pinbox.... Lippert item

Yeah, the guy said the king pin broke off the trailer. The black piece with the hole in it is where the king pin should go. He said it was the second trip and the trailer was only 2 months old.

Wow, that's just unreal!
Looks like the trailer stayed upright. That's a miracle too.

Yep, the jaws are still tight around the king pin.

It sure does look like a failed weld, pin to box. If the weld let loose, it would not take that much of an off camber twist, to pull the pin through the hole in box. I would have expected the top of pin to be much larger than the hole. Makes me curious to try and see/look at the inside of my pin box, maybe using a mirror, or camera?

Yeah, me too. It looks like the pin is the same size as the hole and was just welded around the circumference of the pin. Pretty shoddy engineering.

The first picture clearly shows the trailer tipped over. It appears the person attempted to drive off the highway, and the trailer got over center, tipping over and tearing out the king pin.
