I've been using Verizon cellular service for years, and have always been satisfied with their coverage, customer service, etc. However, for the past several months there have been periods when no service at all was available. Most of the problem occurs during the mornings, when it becomes impossible to place a call since there's no signal. Being handicapped, it's become a safety situation.
It appears that the problem has gotten worse when I moved from Tucson to Amarillo a few months ago, so it may be a regional situation. I'd like to stay with Verizon, but if it becomes necessary to switch, so be it. My question is: Have any of you other Verizon users had a similar situation? Thank you.

No Verizon but I have so far had good luck with AT&T for years now and even in remote desert areas as long as I am within 2 or less miles near primary highway such as state Hwy or Federal. Even most small towns such as Gerlach, Nevada have a cell tower and reception year round.

I'm also wondering if the problem has to do with the implementation of 5G. Probably not, but it appears coincidental.

Can say that my phone on the verizon network has very little issues with having service. In fact, here out west where coverage can be spotty my verizon service is often the only phone that can actually make calls, particularly when we're RVing in remote areas. T-Mobile and ATT have occasional lack of service in many smaller towns, and Sprint is nearly useless outside of major cities. We have been in both Tucson area (Kartchner Caverns) and a few days in Amarillo in the last few months, neither location posed any issues with our Verizon service. I have had friends and family having issues with dropping calls and lack of service that turned out to be phone related, maybe problem is more hardware related than network availability. Good luck, hope you find resolution quickly, these days we can hardly survive without our cell phones.

Weather and distance to the cell towers has a lot to do with signal quality. We have had Verizon for years but had to Switch to AT&T when we started spending summers on the Oregon coast. Used to have to drive about 5 miles into town to get a decent signal.

Been with Verizon for years. The only place I have ever had an issue with reception is at my sister's apartment in North Merritt Island, making/receiving calls. Whatever the reason, the neighborhood is a black hole for cell service no matter the provider.
Now data is another story.....

You didn't say what phone you're using or how old it is, but it seems unusual that you would have good signal and then no signal from the same location and now it is happening in a new location as well. We have had Verizon for many years and there are areas locally that don't have good service, but they are consistently bad, not intermittent. I have an older Galaxy phone that will periodically stop making/receiving calls and I have to restart it for it to work again. It is strange because it only affects calls and does not seem to impact texting or internet access. It hasn't become such a problem that I'm willing to pay to replace it yet. With your problem moving with you, it may be a phone problem rather than a network issue.

We just replaced our phones we had for 3 years and they were year old freebies at the time so 4 years old. The new phones get much better service. As newer versions of 4G and 5G become available the companies do not improve or maintain the older versions.
I'm guessing it may be time for the original poster to upgrade.

We are on Visible (Verizon in a plain wrapper) and had an outage for several hours this week on Monday.
