My buddy that lives outside of Dallas reported that it was 4 degrees at daybreak this morning. WOW!
He said with all the snow and ice, his wife keeps looking through the window....but he thought it was probably time to let her in.[emoticon]

4 degrees?? ABOVE zero?? Must be nice to be down South!
My weather station showed 31 below zero at 0600 the last two days. For the last week or longer we have not been above zero. The best we have had was single digits below zero!
Currently is is 11 above. YAY!!

Weather folks are saying this is the first time in the history of records that every county, weather station, in Texas reported below freezing temps this morning.

I remember several days near zero in Dallas in Jan 1988

Four degrees in Dallas. Ha ha, we're warmer, in St. Louis, but at 5.
Crazy weather all over.


Our 2351D Phoenix Cruiser, Jack, has turned us from campers into RVers and loving it!

I have a friend who lives down there and is trying to deal with snow without a snow shovel or snow brush.


I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be Douglas Adams

RV-less for now but our spirits are still on the open road.

Watching the evening weather for McAllen/ Brownsville, TX - the low of 23 broke the old low record of 36 for Feb 15. Quite a difference.

Multiple former acquaintances in Dallas, Houston, Austin, are simply at a loss with how to deal with both snow and near-zero temps. My RE Agent / Property Manager friend in the Big D is absolutely slammed with broken pipe calls and "everything seems to be working but the heating system isn't keeping it warm" calls. My former boss...who retired and put a bunch of money in peach trees in the Hill Country...is bemoaning the likely loss of two years of work to put them in.

I'm at the age where below zero holds no attraction for me, but I'd much rather deal with -30 in Los Anchorage (50 degrees below one version of "average winter" temps) than 0 in Texas.

Millions without power or heat in TX now and the extreme cold continues with another storm Tues night/Wed morning. At least we have a generator in the RV and would be okay even if power went out. It's single digits here too. Furnace run constantly.

It was MINUS 6 deg F at 6AM this morning & I live 120 miles east of Dallas. I'll take our 100 anytime over this ice age start.
The utilities are asking everyone to lower their thermostats to low 60's.
