I don't know about Austin.

Biggest problem area right now is Houston, with Dallas area close behind.

East and southeast Texas is very vulnerable to icing of power lines, and trees losing limbs and falling on power lines.

Family and friends in Arkansas and north Louisiana already seeing that.

Yes, I spoke/ wrote too soon.

I had five days without power in Dallas inside LBJ Loop in 1989. And I had to go to work in downtown Dallas, leaving the kids at home because the school was closed.

Thankfully we had friends with gas heat and generators they could say with in the day time.

to me it seems the other sources of power are not that reliable in this case

One of the four nuclear plants in Texas tripped off line suddenly because the cold froze instruments and cooling lines.

The Governor proposed emergency legislation today, part of which would require companies to modify/ build their plants to withstand/ function at 10 degrees ABOVE zero temps.

There are a lot of people who are still in temps colder than that.
