It was my understanding at the time of the fire that the handling of any backups was up to the individual customer. You could buy it from the datacenter provider (OVHcloud), or you could take care of it yourself. I would not be surprised if fototime did not just lose the pictures, but a lot of additional resources needed to run their operation. *IF* the whole thing is related to the fire.
Another "interesting" fact about this fire is that there seems to have been no effective fire suppression present in the datacenter.

I find it laughable that anyone would realistically expect a free picture hosting site to have a solid DR plan, or even a backup.

They exist to make money. Anything that costs money eats into that making money premise.

When you choose to host your pictures on such a site, you are not a "customer" as you are not paying for service. Read the fine print. They promise you nothing. They use your content to generate "hits" on their website, which they turn around and use to attract advertisers. If anything they are your customer.

I don't think business who is trying to brainwash you into something you don't need or don't want can qualify as customer.

Fototime was a pay site.

I remember when photo bucket did that. They caused a lot of damage. People say photo bucket is back, but I would never trust them after the stunt they pulled.

Yup. Photobucket victim here. I pulled all my photos off that ~!***, but separating photos from a detailed article or trip report is about as useful as operating a vehicle without wheels under it....

Can you create a photo album in Flickr and post a link to that whole album?

I few pictures I had stuck in a album

Sure. The link above works for me.

Their free account allows you to upload up to 1000 images.

Years ago when people paid me to take pictures I had a unlimited Pro account. I have since relied on a local NAS backed up with Google Drive cloud backup service (2T) which in turn allows me to use some of that 2T with Google photos. I did not see any reason to pay for two services so I removed 1000's of images from Flickr and now use the free account.

If you are logged in to your Flickr account it is super easy to select+view a properly sized image and then right-click and select the "copy image location" for use on rv.net.

Yep, that's what I'm looking for. I looked at Flickr and it looks like about $50/yr for what I need. Sounds reasonable to me.

Flickr keeps raising their pro price and I keep paying it.
It was $44 for 2 years for many years.

I set my phone to send all pictures taken to go to Flickr. Works great. KEN
