I have a SanDisk Sansa Clip+ MP3 player. I love it. My grandson was using it for a while and really messed it up.

Now the MP3 will not turn on. I have tried hard reset by pressing both buttons with no joy.

I believe but I’m not sure that he tried to connect it to his Macintosh computer. Now the player will not turn on. When I connected to my Windows 10 laptop computer the MP3 player shows up as a u1 hard drive. And I am able to explore this u1 drive which has a number of folders but all the folders are blank. There is no option to format this drive.

I have attempted using EaseUS Partition Master version 10, this software program does not display the u1 drive.
.
Any help you can provide is welcome

Please give me enough troubles, uncertainty, problems, obstacles and STRESS so that I do not become arrogant, proud, and smug in my own abilities, and enough blessings and good times that I realize that someone else is in charge of my life.

Have you tried holding the Power button down for at least 30 seconds? That's what brought mine back to life.

If that doesn't work hold down the Power button and the Menu button simultaneously for 30 second.

Did both of these. This is what I was trying to say by "hard reset"

Shouldn't show up as a u1 drive or any other storage..

Should show up as a "Media player device" (MTP).

Good thing there is no format option, you don't want to format MP3 players as that can really mess them up as sometimes there may be folders or files the player uses in that space.. Which may be what happened to your player.

Did you try plugging the player into a USB charger and then try to turn it on? Battery may be dead and the player may have froze..

Try a standalone USB charger and allow several hrs time to allow battery to charge up.

See HERE

Sometimes that will wake up a non responsive MP3 player.

All else fails, try a reset of your player, follow instructions HERE

More info on your player see HERE

If nothing above works, the player firmware may have been corrupted..

You might try downloading the firmware from the above site and see if you can reload the firmware.

If all above fails, it may be time to replace..

At this point you are not hurting anything by just messing with it.

I agree to first plug it in to power only (not the computer) for a few hours to overnight. That can resolve issues sometimes.

If that doesn't work, uninstall the driver and then reload it - and THEN plug the player into the computer. Then try reinstalling the firmware, then see if you can get the format option and try that. Then repeat everything mentioned until it suddenly starts working again or you get frustrated a buy a new player... [emoticon]

Unfortunately from my experience with multiple different brands, once bricked, they are not coming back to life..

Had three identical MP3 players of one brand, one for my DW, one for my DD and one for myself.. Eventually one by one the firmware corrupted and no more response.. Tried reinstalling firmware but no success.

The Sansas are basically throwaway players anyways like any other player that have a non replaceable rechargeable battery and it bites the dust.

Don't get me wrong, those are nice players, DW bought one when her other player died.. Menus are nice and is compact in size but it may be time to move on..
