Travelled from Monterey and looping into Canyondlands.

Stopped by San Bernardino in CA to visit the kids and the grand. Temperature topped 80s and turned on the a/c. Same problem I had last summer and brought it back to Camping World-Sacramento where I bought the unit for warranty repairs -- twice, traveling 300 miles both ways.

Well, partly my fault. I did not have it tested myself and just turned it on today as I needed it for my baby grandson with us in the RV.

But that's just also part of the very sad and frustrating stories (did a Dear Marcus letter about this too on my first unit 3 years ago). Called Camping World San Bernardino. Explained I'm just passing by to no avail. Earliest they can see my unit is July 5th. Almost a month from now.

Called Camping World in Valencia willing to travel 156 miles both ways. Told them my situation and got the curt response that it will even be later than first week of July.

So, imagine if you are in the middle of nowhere with your schedules, reservations and well laid out or a big emergency.

It seems that just about all RV service centers are both understaffed and overcommitted. Not just a CW problem. Try getting an appointment for normal car service. Could be 1-2 months at dealership.

If you think that's a problem just think of the problem a full-timer has when emergency repairs are needed.
Best bet is a mobile repair service.

Have you tried a local HVAC guy?

Quite a few years ago, I had a problem with an AC on my fifth wheel and I called a local guy. I told him I could take it to his shop, but he preferred to come to me. He fixed it and at a very reasonable cost.

That's what I mentioned on my Dear Marcus letter. I doubt if it even reached him.

It must be most difficult for full timers going around the country needing immediate and emergency repairs while in the vicinity.

Defeats also the raison d'être of Camping World's country-wide Ellite Membership as I thought and actually wished, that they can be my go-to for all my rv related urgent needs through their networks.

Dear Marcus has lots of good business ideas and customer service best practices being doled out in his show.

Apparently he missed this one on his own Camping World/Good Sam companies.

I bought a portable a/c from Lowe's meanwhile. We have a baby on board and there's a heat wave, hence the urgent pleading for immediate repairs at the local Camping World.

I'll do as you suggested. But with the noisy Dometic a/c, it does not seem to be compatible to a sleeping baby (we ourselves are bothered by the noise when we were testing it).[emoticon]

Thanks for the suggestion.

Hello Yosemite Sam1,

We apologize for the experience you have had attempting to get the A/C unit repaired. Please provide your contact and membership number in a private message. We will pass on your experience to the leadership team for review.

Thank you,

Hi Ellla,

As I said in my past letter, this must be a corporate culture and customer service issue. This is all over Camping World/Good Sam.

I brought this up before and got your same canned response. But nothing changed..
