My beef was/is, these days when hard fought traditions are constantly being forgotten/overlooked that our kids don't even know what one of the most important (arguably the most important cuz without it there wouldn't be a country) events in our country was actually all about, other than a holiday and a chance to blow stuff up!
It is an education problem and it does start at home!

Since July 4th is Independence Day I've heard both used my whole life. It just depends on where you lived growing up. Small towns tend to use the Independence Day version.

So you ran into a coupla teens that you thought were ignorant. This is like those videos where they question various people about particular topics. They then publish a video of idiotic people that who get the answers hilariously wrong.
Of course the many more that knew the correct answer will not be published,because there is no fun in that,only when we can denigrate another human.
Is it possible that amath major be a complete idiot when it comes to history? Of course and more than likely are.
But ask that history major to solve a problem and he more than likely will stand there drooling.
Just horribly judgmental.

Hey Pitch, I am a math major, ouch. I are pretty gud at English though.
Bottom line, people just want to complain. It isn't hard to find someone to fit into their tirade of the week.
