We are on our 3rd mh, all were purchased new. The one we have is an 2015, and one of the roof vent covers blew off while driving, one of the other 3 is damaged, the 3rd one does not look very good. We have never had a problem with the vents lids/covers on any of the mh's.
Has anyone else had this problem? Are they just built cheeper?

Older lids can get brittle from sun damage. Rain covers are also good as wind protection. Replacement lids come in various types so be careful which ones to get.

The lids fall apart due to sun light making them brittle. Vibration of lids while driving destroy them.
The hoods protect them and allows vents to remain open while driving. cover

As said before they get brittle with age,I replaced all of mine with the Polycarbonate ones then put Maxxair covers over them,been there more than 10 years and are still good as new.
If you are looking for vent lids.First see what type vent lid you have using this

For long lasting vent covers Polycarbonate ones are the ones you want.
If you haven't done this before Here is a short video that will help you.
You may need a new seal that goes on the metal edge this will make it a tight seal This is what you need

Not sure if your are talking about lids or covers, vent lids don't last very long for the most part, particularly if there are no vent covers to protect them. Whether we purchased new or used, I have always added or replaced original vent covers with vent covers where vent lid can be fully raised allowing our bi-directional fans to operate unrestricted. Pretty simple DIY and not too expensive for RV shops to perform either, additionally I can spend time inspecting my roof and seals while up there killing 2 birds with one stone as they say.

After our vent covers blew off in high wind on our old RV we replaced them and I installed the covers. They are both easy to replace and the covers are easy to install. I recently made two errors though. I bought the wrong kind of vent cover and a maxair cover that does not fit the model fan I bought. I have to return both to Camping World.

We had one disintegrate last year on our 2017 camper after just 3 years.
It just blew off on the highway while closed properly.
The remaining fragments were so brittle that I could grind them to dust between my fingers.
All in moderate central european climate where it is neither very hot, cold, or sunny.

The new and better one are polycarbonate and tinted blue/gray and they last a lot longer.
We had a couple replaced over the years with the polycarbonate ones. It has been two years since we replaced a fan and a new polycarbonate cover over the rear sink area.

Were the covers open while driving? If so, they can vibrate from the wind pressure and disappear. Either keep them closed or install Maxxair covers. I'm surprised you never installed them heretofore.

When they are new, give them a coat of white plastic spray paint to protect them from UV damage.
