Capabilities says Max payload 6838 lbs. WOW! Surely that's a mistake.

This 2021 GMC 3500 regular cab with the 6.6L gas has a payload rating of 7442 lbs.

If I were to buy a new truck today this is what I would buy.

If you do the math for a GVWR of 14K, the truck would have to weigh only 7172 which is probably than a SRW crewcab gasoline model with the smallest engine. Something is off.

Maybe regular cab with gasoline engine DRW with no fuel.

Did Chevy made what Ford did in 2017 and put aluminium beds?
The payload rating on heavy trucks was always taxable number and having no meaning in real hauling.

GM 3500 drw also have a 10500 lb rawr for more load carrying capacity. 2020 GMs had the 14000 gvwr numbers so its not new.

GM has a good presence in the grocery getter/rv market. Their looking for more commercial vehicle sales from Ram/Ford one ton drw vehicles..... with those higher 10500 rawr numbers.

I've seen scale tickets on a couple of haulers webs showing 7200-7400 lbs rawr payloads on the '20 and up GM models. Those are WT models/2wd/dmax/std or double cab/long beds.
I just ran GMs weight calculator on a 3500 drw double cab/long bed/dmax/2wd LT. It shows a 7232 lb rear axle payload.

I have a Kenworth dually that fits in a parking stall with a 18,000lbs payload.

Why couldn't a GMC have 6838lbs ? (Not 6800 or 6900, but exactly 6838...)

"I had one" traded as fast as I could for another double cab . In the standard cab they short changed quality on all sorts of things
