Not RVs, but I've bought two SUVs out of state in PA and DE, and never paid any sales taxes in those states. I paid the VA taxes once I titled the cars in my state.

In general, you pay sales taxes in the state you title the vehicle. You wont be able to register to get tags until you do so.

The other caveat you may have to be aware of is how long you have to register the vehicle after purchase. PA/DE provided 2-month temp tags. But VA requires vehicles to be registered in 30 days.

I got hit 2x with my old RV when I moved. I paid it in MD when I bought it and paid it again when I registered in NC. Not sure how that's legal but it happens. I bought a new FW in SC and registered in NC and paid the tax in my home state only. Same with my new truck, bought it in MD while in NC and paid the NC taxes. And I also have to pay the property tax every year.

Some states have reciprical(sp) sales tax.
When I bought mine in Indiana & NC did not but I took delivery in Illinois(yes, they actually drove it over the state line) because Illinois and NC do.

When living in NY state sales tax was 6% and no property tax.
NC is 3% sales tax and a property tax every year.
Everything is paid one way or the other.
