Wm. Elliot. Canada was slow when the pandemic started but we have a better record than the USA. Larger % vaccinated.

Proves that WH Covid coordinator is lying. The delay with land border reopening has nothing to do with Delta or any other Covid-related risk. If it did, they would've required testing of all incoming travellers, including US citizens and permanent residents, like they do in airports.

My theory is that they are not ready. That is, CBP at the land border are not ready.

I hope you are right and they finally devise a plan. Might be short on manpower

Has to do with illegal migration from the Southern Regions. Trying to stop people attempting to enter USA side-stepping legal migration processes by using the Covid Pandemic as the basis of the closure. Legality of the action by the CDC to close the border would to called into question if the border was opened for other use. Canada is as side issue, how can you close one border without closing the other? MHO!

Every month, for the last 18 months, we talk about the land border closure. Is it because Covid. Or the CBP lacks personal? Or because we want to do it at the same time with Mexico?

It is none of the above. Your elected leaders are not calling the shots, it is the un-elected bureaucrats (swamp creatures)that are in power. Once they regulate, they never give up the command and control.

I can see another YEAR of closure too unless the people rise up, on all both sides of the border. Smartly, Mexico never closed its land border.

You were told to take the jab and life will be back to normal. Now it is the vaccines wear off so take another. Next??????

I hope Canadians RVers, the ones that can afford it, figure out a way to get out of Canada this winter.

....there isn't any justifiable reason not to allow Canadians to travel into the US by road for pleasure travel. That, including endangering US citizens from Canadian carrying in Covid. Zero justification.

Canadians are at least among the top two nations on Earth with the highest fully vaccinated population(s). Almost all Canadian Provinces have already implemented inter-Provincial/Provincial "vaccination passports" (with exception of only two provinces). With a US entry requirement simply asking for a PCR test for non US national road travelers, AND proof of vaccination, there is virtually zero risk to Americans from Canadian travelers.

Some of the top North American US/Canada policy makers (PhDs with decades of policy-making experience on both sides of the fence working for 2, 3, 4 pervious Administrations) can't figure out what in the heck is going on. So, when something doesn't look, read, sound and smell right, and defies all logic under the principles of international relations and pandemic science, you know that disallowing Canadians into the US under the auspices of "this pandemic" at this late post-vaccination cycle is purely back-room game-playing, not at Homeland Security, but at The Whitehouse.
