So, I guess the Salton Sea is the only location in USA. Could not find other "natural" brine sites.
I do know, the old school method of solar evaporation is most inefficient, so I guess the plan is to excavate ore, flood with water (creating the brine pool), then use geothermal extraction technology (instead of solar evaporation).
Hmm, fact is, open pit mining still is still required...and, why are the arguments and logic against "big oil" exploration/extraction are suspended when it comes to lithium mining. Why is that?
Brine pools are not pretty nor environmentally friendly....

Provide your source on there being no other domestic lithium brine sources. Or is this your opinion after your “extensive” research on this technology?
If you had been keeping up you would have read Li is present in oil field brines.
Quote: Lithium brine deposits can also be found in some deep oil reservoirs, accounting for 3 percent of known global lithium resources. North Dakota, Wyoming, Oklahoma, Arkansas and East Texas are home to oil field brines. The Smackover Formation on the US Gulf Coast is believed to hold an estimated 1 million MT of lithium resources at an average concentration of about 0.015 percent.

Where did the attitude go that was proclaimed in JFK’s moonshot speech; all I read out of you is it can’t be done, too hard to try, to hard to be inventive….

It takes a lot of "push" by many people to get new technology acceptance. The following is true events:
SC still has a very old law on its books, but of course not now enforced, which states (but paraphrased) that you are required to place a telephone call to the sheriff's office in the nearest SC County to the state border before you can cross into said SC county with an automobile with an internal combustion engine so that the sheriff can warn the people in the communities in order that they may protect and calm their horses. The moral is technology will keep moving on; get use to it.
