And check on advancing the cam.

Nice truck... The one thing I couldn't understand is why Ford predominantly used 2 barrel carburetors in their trucks which made them real slugs.

My 69 F100 Ranger 360 2 barrel was a DOG. Changed a couple things wa-la 390 plus 4 barrel was bad azz and got better fuel economy. Had the C6 BUILT and was amazing.

Agreed... Running in 2 barrel mode on a 4 barrel carb made better fuel economy than a 2 barrel carb.

I remember my parents and their friends pulled their campers from Texas to Ontario Canada back in 1982 and their 1981 Chevy 305ci truck, a friends 1980 GMC 350 both with 4 barrel carbs always made better fuel economy compared to the two Ford F250's with a 400 and 351 2 barrel setup.

I got my new dash pad and set cover installed.

And a new windshield washer fluid reservoir, pump and new wiper blades installed.

Today I changed the oil and filter, first time its been done in over 20 years.
I added a cleaner and ran it for about 10 minutes prior to draining the oil.
The oil looked like black gasoline.

I also got my new glove box liner from Dennis Carpenter installed. The old one crumbled when I took it out to install the new dash pad.

Now I can keep the original owners manual in there. [emoticon]

And a new battery tray.

New brake and clutch pedal pads.

I also got the old ugly home mead trailer hitch off too.

I have a new one from etrailer that I will get installed soon.

I got the old heat passages drilled and cleaned out for the heat for the choke.
I still need to make a new inlet tube but now the choke works like its supposed to and opens when the engine gets warm.

I even got a new passenger side headlight replaced.

Still TONS to do. It needs new transfer case mounts, the front yoke on the front driveline replaced, both u-joints on the rear driveline and still more.

Its a fun project and its pretty fun to drive too.

When I took off the brush guard one side of the grill was busted out.

I replaced too. The passenger side was busted up.

Once I have everything fixed and its road worthy I'll decide if I'm going to do anything to the engine.

If I decide to improve its performance I'll go with a 428 CJ cam and a 4-bbl carb.

When I first put them on they were the other way around.
Then I looked at the picture before I replaced them and turned them around.

They do look upside down.

I guess its time to go to a Ford truck forum and find out which way is correct.
