I bought a new carburetor, a Brawler 650 double pump with an electric choke.
Brawler is made by Holley. Its the same as their regular carburetors only cast with aluminum and it was about $200 less than the traditional Holley.

Only a few adjustments and it runs great.

Gave it a bath and headed into town.

Short video heading down the canyon to town.
I have about 300 miles on the new engine and I am more than happy with st how great it runs.

Today's projects.
I'm adding a mechanical oil pressure gauge and a tachometer.
The new carb gets a bowl vent tube, bowl vent baffles and #68 jets.
And its first oil change.
The 410 came with new Autolite spark plugs and they're getting replaced with a fresh set of Motorcraft spark plugs.
And if I have enough time left I'll change the oil and filters in my ATV.

It is. Holley calls it a Brawler. The only difference between this one and a regular Holley is the Brawler is cast in aluminum and costs about $250 less.

I was pleasantly surprised to find that Holley had installed bowl vent baffles back at the factory.
Dropped the primary jets from 70s down to 68s.

I installed the bowl vent tube too.

These Autolite plugs came in the 410. I swapped them out today for some Motorcraft plugs.
I am pleased with the color.

I totally agree. Thanks once again for the great posts! The bolt post was very interesting and informative.
How does the new engine compare to the old one for power? Does it have more low end torque?

The bolts were kind of upsetting.
I have never really "enjoyed" pulling and installing engines.
At my age it just about killed me. I hurt for quite a few days.
I sent the seller a message telling him there were not the correct bolts. After a few day he sent me a refund.
I would have rather gotten a "I'm sorry" than the money.

This was the 390 in my 1963 Mercury Monterey.
4V carb, 9.7:1 compression, 300 HP and dual exhaust.
![[image]](https://i.postimg.cc/vZ14wR5n/IMG-6471.jpg)
Here's the 390 in my 1972 F-250.
Stock it had 8.7:1 compression and was only rated at 160 HP. Stock it was a dog.
I installed a 428 CJ cam, 1966 390 HP intake and Holley 610 CFM carb, headers and a custom made 3" single exhaust.
![[image]](https://i.postimg.cc/rsMLg4Nj/IMG-7194.jpg)
The 390 2V that came in the truck was out of a 1966 Mercury Monterey.
9.5:1 compression, 270 HP and 405 lb ft torque.
Once I had it running on all 8 cylinders it actually ran pretty good.
It ate and blew oil out of the breather cap.
This 410 easily puts the others to shame. It runs extremely well and has plenty of low end torque. Its really quite fun to drive. ![smile [emoticon]](http://www.rv.net/sharedcontent/cfb/images/smile.gif)
Just going by what's posted the 410 stock had 10.5:1 compression which it still has. It was rated at 330 HP at 4600 RPM and 444 lb ft torque at 2800 RPM.
They say an RV cam adds roughly 10% more power. If that's true then the engine could have 360 HP and 490 lb ft torque. But then I live at 6000 ft so I'm sure the numbers are lower than that.
I am very pleased with the way it has turned out.
And thanks to everyone who checks out this thread and comments.
