Had an issue and had to pull the engine back out this morning.

Got it back in later this afternoon.

Link clicky. Got the 410 fired up this afternoon.

Needs some work on the clutch linkage, I'll get that done in the morning.
Then I'll get the hood bolted back on and take it for a spin.
It sounds really good with great throttle response.
Not bad considering this was the first time its been started after being rebuilt 50 years ago.
I'm a happy camper. [emoticon]

Kenny, We feel as though we are included in this resurrection of of the 410….

What was the issue that made you have to pull it back out?

I wasn't sure anyone would ask. I should be smarter than this. [emoticon]

I've been trying to do a respectable job with the 410. I had to buy a new flywheel for it so I went online and bought new flywheel bolts.

They looked exactly like the old ones but I never actually matched them side by side. Big mistake.

I had the pan off the 410 so I could plastigauge the bearings and look for the 1U 410/428 crank stamping. So I turned the engine over multiple times.

We dropped the engine into the truck, got it all bolted up and ready and the engine wouldn't turn over, not one tiny bit.

The only thing I could figure was the flywheel so I ordered another one just in case it was.

Pulled the engine yesterday, looked between the flywheel and plate and couldn't see a thing. I thought maybe I put a rod cap on backwards but really didn't think I did that so I pulled the pan just to make sure.

I had to remove the flywheel so we could bolt the engine back up to the engine stand. The second bolt I removed I could tell by the end of the bolt it had bottomed out against the block.

Bolted it back up with the flywheel bolts off the 390, dropped it back in and fired it up.

I'm too old to be doing that kind of work, especially twice. LOL
I'm paying for it this morning. [emoticon]

I can guarantee you that I'll never make that mistake again. [emoticon]

It sucked for sure. Especially for such a stupid mistake.

I've put about 150 miles on it so far and I ordered an new carburetor for it yesterday.
