I'm moving from a LB GM to a Ford with 6.75' bed. The truck does not have factory installed puck system. I want to stick with a new B&W slider hitch (I don't think that a slider is required with my 2015 5th wheel's rounded nose, but want the option of using it). Will be pulling 12,300lbs.
- Which puck system should I have the dealer install?
- Can the Patriot slider easily handle 12.2k lbs? I know it is rated for 18k but has anyone heard of issues with it?
Thanks

The Ford OEM puck system is available from Ford Accessories, and the Patriot is a great hitch, can easily handle your Fw wt. Mine is not a slider, but very well built, very easy to use, and no worries (is it hitched, or not).

I think you will need the B&W Companion slider, for a direct fit to Ford OEM underbed puck system. ICBW, haven't followed updates. ![smile [emoticon]](http://www.rv.net/sharedcontent/cfb/images/smile.gif)

The Patriot fits on industry standard rails, not on factory puck systems.

I think you are correct. The dealer did spec the B&W Patriot but did not mention which underbed system they are installing. Will be making a phone call first thing in the morning....good thing the installer is backed up 2 weeks!!!

Are the rails fixed in place or can they be removed along with the hitch?

Thanks to everyone for all the input. VERY helpful!!
It's my understanding that the Patriot will not fit the puck system. It only fits the rails which I do NOT want. We only pull 4 days each year. The hitch is out of the truck the remainder of the time. Don't want those rails attached to the bed.
My current thought is to cancel the 5th wheel prep and hitch. Then buy the puck system...intall it myself...purchase a Companion slider base (fits puck system)...use the head from my current fixed Companion hitch.
Purchased truck the day before Thanksgiving. Hope to cancel the 5th package in the morning....we will see!

Why would you cancel the 5er package on a new truck? I believe it comes with in-bed 7pin and some other things. I also ordered an F350 within the last month and can’t imagine not getting the 5er package.
