The rule on hats indoors varies with both geographical location and the specific "Door"

Since I do not like to wear hats.... Does not bother me much

Also, the hat, and what provision there is for the hat. Stocking cap? I'm wearing that because I have been out in cold, do not want it on in a heated room. Sit on it and gloves. Old restaurant, with hooks near table, I will use the hook. If not, likely to just move hat back on head as nod toward politeness, but lack of options.
A little place I would stop for lunch back when they where building a highway thru city had a sign on the door, "All ball caps must be worn bill to front"

What's the big deal if someone wears their hat in a restaurant? It wouldn't bother me one bit. BTW, I never wear a hat anywhere, indoor or out.

Didn’t your mother tell you it’s not polite? Mine did…

My mother did.
My teachers did.
And the Military does!

Please show respect to others and pride in yourself.
