I ordered the 3.55 rear gears not knowing if i really needed them or not.

You might want to consider changing your order to 3.31 gears. My 2021 had 3.31 gears and I was very pleased with its fuel economy. My ‘22 has 3.31 gears as well but I can’t yet comment on its mileage. Unless someone is continually towing a 20,000 lb triple axle toy hauler 3.31 gears are a better choice than 3.55. With 3.31 gears there may be times that you are towing in high winds or up and down hills that you choose to lock out 1 or 2 gears but with a 16,000 lb trailer in tow 3.31 gears will actually out perform 3.55 gears on a 6 or 7% grade. First gear with the new Powerstroke/ten speed and a 3.31 final drive is capable of putting more torque to the rear axle than a 2017 F-450 can in first gear with 4.30 gears.

Order is changed to 3.31's, if it's even a bit better on fuel and the towing is better then my 2017, i will be happy.
