When I started driving in the '70's flat tires and blow-outs weren't uncommon. I can't remember how many tires I changed in parking lots or by the side of the road, but it was more than a couple. In particular I recall a blow-out in some miserable weather in MN, fortunately it was a rear tire.
Since radials took over in the 1990's I haven't had any blow-outs and now my tires just fail when I pick up a nail or screw it seems.
This thread is NOT intended to discuss trailer tires, nor the ST vs LT debate on them, but I'm curious of forum members experience on tow vehicle LT tires. Has anyone had a blow-out on LT tires in the last 10-20yrs? Even if overloaded?

Nope, nor on our RV since I switched to LT tires there.

One blowout on my F350 about 5 yrs ago. Running unloaded at 70 mph. Rarely a nail or low tire for any reason on any vehicle ever since radials came out. Driving since the early 60's.

Blowout? NO. BUT, weeks ago, a 17 year old kid noticed a huge bubble on the inner part of a rear tire on my truck while visiting Arizona, averting a for sure blow out. Don't know why he would be looking there, other tan he works for a tire shop near Prescott. Had that tire blew out while driving through a snow storm a few days later, who knows what might have happened. Mind you, these tires have a date stamp of 0319.....only three years old.

That was a good thing he noticed that, and did you find out if the tire bubbled was caused by a road hazard, or defective.

Clearly a defect. I got my monies worth out of them....I paid less than $60/each for these tires from WalMart (online). 265/75r16 E Wild Trail All Terrain's. I tripped over them when searching for a new set....and could not pass them up because of the price. I'll never find a deal like that again.

I've had blow outs on 18.5 14 ply LR G tires!
Yes on LT tires too. Even a few P rated tires.
Some of you must not drive in new home developments much.
I've had 4+ nails in a bobcat tire in one day!
Any way, radials can get flats too.

Flats due to road hazard yes. Blowout no. I did run some LT over 10 years and the bead was rotting inside creating a slow slow leak.

I've had one Michelin blowout on the RR of my F350 while towing the FW. The tire was approximately 3 years old, aired at 75psi, I was not exceeding 65mph, was not overloaded, and the air temp was 92 +/-. I can't explain why it blew, but suspect road debris 1st, maybe a defect 2nd. I still use Michelins because every time I stray from them, I'm disappointed, notwithstanding the one blowout.
