Nashville is a fun place to visit. We stayed at Seven Points Recreation Area (COE I think), about 20 miles from downtown.

Thanks for all the suggestions. We did the Hall of Fame, Tootsie's and walked around Opryland Hotel. The Trolley tour was very good.

Good Civil War sites south of the city if you like history. Great houses, etc. Ryman Auditorium is a must. bars downtown are tooooooo loud for my taste. We kept walking until we found a restaurant without a band.
Don't drive into the city at night -- great shuttle from the campgrounds at a reasonable price. If memory serves, it was about $10 each round-trip; but that was 3-4 years back. Your campground will know of it.
