If you are experienced or if you let a professional do the work and order the correct sized tank, probably yes. Like these people…

I would find a reputable company that does this and ask them. They will have the experience to know if your particular rig is able to handle (and have the logistical space) to install a second tank. And if they aren't certain, a drive to their business can get a proper inspection to answer the question.

They can also give you the pros and cons of various installations. Separate intake ports, separate lines to the engine with a switch, both or neither.

It depends on whether you have a gas or diesel. Larger fuel tanks are easy to find for Diesel engines but not for gas.
"Transfer Flow" in Chico ca. 1-800-442-0056 is a great company. I have had 4 different tanks installed. It usually takes 1 day in their shop to install. They can also ship a tank to your shop nearest to you.

55g is standard size. I don't think a larger tank would fit and never heard of anyone finding a supplier to fit an addition aux tank for gasoline in the E series . You would need the room to tuck it high enough between the frame.
The rear overhang on a class C might prevent anyone from installing an aux tank back there. I think ground clearance on driveway aprons etc would be the reason.

Do you have room for an aux fuel tank? Fitting an aux fuel tank on my 28' E450 Class C would mean giving something up -- holding tanks, generator, storage, something, there's just not a whole lot of room underneath. It's already got a 55 gallon tank which these days usually means I need to fill up twice because I hit the max credit card charge before it's full.

A new rv term for the privilege of that second fill-up , It’s called a ‘double spend whammy’ !
We get to ‘spend’ more time at the pump as well as ‘spend’ more money for the extra time we spent at the pump. [emoticon]

The added weight, assuming you could add one, of a full tank may cause overall weight issues. Many class C’s are close to being overweight when fully loaded as it is.

The short answer is no, not easily and I'm not aware of any mfgs like Transfer flow that make larger drop in tanks.
Are you thinking something in particular, or haven't even crawled under it for a peek see?

That is, unless you have the 40gal tank, 55gal is a factory option. But you didn't state which you have.

Check the space on the left side between the transmission cross member and the differential from the rail frame to the drive shaft, if there is nothing there you can install a Ford 75 gallon tank with a switch over pump and switch over valve, these are standard in some E350 and E450 units the 55 gallon rear tank is standard.

You probably can find a good tank with the hanging brackets, straps, transfer valve, pump and maybe the electric harness at a junk yard.
