How are you trying to post a pic?
For this site, you need to have an external picture hosting site to store the file. Then they usually have a way of copy/paste the "BBCode" script.

I use Imgur.

I don't know what the "preference setting" message is referring to in your case, but maybe something with your RV.net settings? I have not done anything to mine in almost 20 years, so no clue..

I think you need to check your preferences. Go to "My Forums", then go to "My Preferences". Check the option boxes accordingly. Sounds like it's the "Show images that are part of the post" option that you might not have checked?
