Thanks again for comments.Called the sheriff office and yes we need to stay in our county 30 days before we get application. Our main question was can we have a PMB address and apply and they said yes.

The need for a concealed carry permit will depend on the individual state law. Some allow "permitless carry" for residents of that state only. Others don't. A carry permit issued by your state of residence also allows carry in states that have reciprocity with the state of residence.
Lots of variations of thee above so if one is traveling, having a permit is not a bad idea. Also having a non-resident permit from a state like Utah is an even better idea. It's one permit that is (or at least was) honored by a whole bunch of states and when added to most home state permits covered all but maybe a dozen or so states.
As for one's desire to carry, that's a personal choice-----period.

Based on recent news reports "safe areas" are rapidly disappearing.

OK, if a bad guy has a gun on you will you draw your weapon and kill him before he kills you? You obviously have zero knowledge of a pending attack on your person until the crime has been perpetrated. At that time, it is too late to unholster your piece.
Now if you shoot him in the back as he is leaving the scene of the crime you are a murderer ask the LEO's being tried for murder of perps when doing their jobs.
What good is a gun if it is not drawn until after the crime and threat has obviated?
Carrying a gun is futile in the defense of ones self. No reason to pull a weapon until one has been assaulted by then it is too late the crime is over.
