Having had TT's for 20 years, I guess I was spoiled by filling the fresh water tank with a hose via gravity through a simple opening. We've had our C since late 2018 and for the first time this past Sunday (Memorial wknd), I needed to fill the fresh water tank with another 5 to 10 gallons of water for our last night. I carry an empty 5 gal container, no problem. Filled it nearby.
The book states that I put the hose in the container, and attached to fresh water inlet, I did. I turned the valving to indicate "country fill", and turned on the pump. It's supposed to suck the water in, according to the book.
But 20 mins of it, and only 1.5 gal went in. I fiddled with the hose and got maybe another couple quarts after another 15 mins. I feel like I'm going to burn up my pump.
What gives? I guess I expected it to work better. "Normal" filling has pressurized water, and they call it "city fill". I get it. What am I doing wrong here?

to "suck " fluid in could be a winterizing system to add antifreeze to system?
city water pressure should push water in the fresh water fill unless that valve is stuck???????????

I found it easier to buy a 12 Vt transfer pump.

There is probably a way to fill it from the city water port also. If you have a hose with pressure. I feel your pain, no gravity feed on mine, and to switch it over the controlls are under the couch, that is under the rear slide bed. Plus, I can't see them well, so I turn things untill I hear the water flowing to the pump. Check the manual, try it both ways at home, then mark the valves.

They probably have both, and the winterizing system is the only way to fill it without using a hose. Unless you get a seprate pump as stated above. Not having a gravity fill is not fun.

Maybe the hose had an air leak at the fitting at the fresh water inlet

Sorry I don’t have a suggestion, however I’m sort of amazed that there are apparently numerous “normal” RVs that you can’t just fill the fresh water tank like “normal.”
Weird…not something I would have guessed.

What's new isn't always better. I had easy access to my water tank and was able to fill it from inside the rv using a mod that i once viewed.
On a previous rv , i found it easier to cut a hole on the top of the holding tank and use a marine deck-plate to seal it. That gave me the option to fill using a pressurized garden hose or gravity fill via bucket. It also made it easy to clean the inside of the tank. 8” hole with deck-plate.
You could also install an old style gravity fill port and fill tube to the tank. Just cut a hole and seal it like they always did at the factory. They work !
