Last week went to the VA ENT clinic to get my ears looked at. They put hearing aids on me several years ago, but hearing became almost non-existent for the last few months. To make a long story short, I needed a good cleaning. Nurse started washing and digging, sucking and pulling and after about an hour, I was hearing better than I have in ten years. I can actually hear without the aids!!! Ringing in my ears has decreased almost half, she said it would never go away. Never had a good cleaning like I got, she said they were really packed up. I told her after 72 years I can only imagine. Now have an appointment every 6 months for cleaning.....

I have intermittent issues with the same thing. Nothing feels better than to have all that yuk washed out!


I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be Douglas Adams

RV-less for now but our spirits are still on the open road.

i have ‘em both cleaned every 6-mos. doc says i am a prolific wax maker.

I've never had my ears de-waxed at the VA, but I just wanna say, I've always gotten consistently good care at any VA facility. I do remember getting them cleaned at a civilian facility a long time ago. I remember the procedure was quite painful, and I was concerned they were going to bust an eardrum. That being he case, I never had another cleaning.

I use dental floss.
Push it through so it comes out the other side, and pull back and forth.
