Adam R wrote: While I genuinely like the idea of battery powered vehicles, they just don't work for much of the driving we do these days. Case in point, we headed from Colorado Springs to eastern Oregon last week and put down 1040 miles in 17 hours. No need to stop for a hotel but 17 hours in one shot is about our limit when traveling with kids. We did the same trip in reverse last night. There is no way we could have done that same trip in an EV in a single shot. The most painful part was the multiple $200 fill ups. .
I get that. But doing that in an electric might have added an hour or so to the trip. Depending on your schedule probably not that big of a deal. The “fuel” would have been a lot cheaper though. .
Of course if you were towing that’s another thing. . Not going to happen with any EV on the market today. .
Cheers.

Some people are nuts and do not have an ounce of common sense. I looked at an F-150 lighting platinum yesterday at a Ford dealer which was waiting for the buyer (from out of state) to take delivery. They paid $25K above sticker. The buyer probably thinks; oooooh look at the fuel savings just like Reisender, but the writing is on the wall with that due to rapidly rising electricity costs and the taxes etc will catch up with EV. $25K is about 7 1/2 years worth of $5.00 gas for the average US driver.

Heh heh . If you are buying an EV just to save gas than just go buy a 10 year old Corolla and have at er.
Most people buy electric vehicles for a variety of reasons. Performance, tech, convenience, low maintenance and yes, for the high mileage commuter it’s just dirt cheap to drive.
To each his own.
Cheers.

^True statement and its nice to see an EV owner who accurately recognizes them for what they are. Which is what you said.
Numbers don’t work for me and our uses. Not a truck with good towing/range capacity. So still need a truck. Cost of entry is prohibitive as an economical commuter.
Performance, yup if you get the right one, checks that box. But at double the cost of our sports car which can’t keep the tires under it anyway, it’s so fast.
Unlike the nut humpers who don’t even own one and treat them like the next coming of Jesus…
And prior to the fuel price spike that “is never coming back down” (just like the last however many times…lol) the numbers were even more skewed.

The prices will come down, but not with the current clown behind the wheel.

Are you implying that along with fuel the president also controls the price of trucks? What about Milk, he control that too?

And how do we control the entire world having increasing costs?
What is the solution? Nationalize the oil industry and hold the price down? Sounds like socialism.

If he could, the price of milk would = the price of gas right now....wish I had a car that runs on milk, currently. Maybe YS1 and 8.1 and t2r....and shelby (cant forget the new guy to the mix) could whip up a buggy that runs on 2% or skim. Heck I'd even buy premium (whole milk) if that's what it took, right now!
Well control the price of milk except the millions of gallons handed out as charity to all the blue voters on WIC and food stamps! lol

Nope. I'm fine with the price of fuel as long as it stays high long enough to A. Force the current gubmit and oil industry to spend more money like they always do in this scenario. = more work and higher profits in our industrial divisions which is less competitive and more profitable than other public and private sector work.
And B. also if it is long enough to tank the prices of vehicles and property/land/houses. Waiting to buy some of both, right now!
Oh, AND its not socialist...
