Hi All,

Just had my 2860 Sunseeker at a HD tire shop this past week. Nope, it was not the ball joints and the unit has just over 5000 miles on it, ( Ford does not put zerk fittings in the ball joints so there is no way to grease them ). Ford puts in a "non-adjustable splined alignment bushing" which is set to less than one degree of caster from the factory! In my case, the front wheels were also slightly toed out and between the two of these issues, this camper was a beast to drive. The bushings have been replaced with aftermarket adjustable bushings and the caster reset to about +5 degree's. Also, the toe was corrected. What a difference in the way this unit handles! It no longer wanders all over the road! I am looking forward to getting out on the interstate and seeing what the handling improvement is at highway speeds above 50, which is what I was driving on the way home. The improvement in handling was very much improved at that speed and I expect it will not regress at any higher speed.
Regarding the V8. Our unit has the V8 and it is a 2021. On a 1400 mile round trip, prior to having the alignment fixed, we got an onboard computer average of 9.2 MPG. We are not towing anything yet, but will be in the future at some point.
