Our 2007 RV came with a backup monitor from Voyager. I wasn't much impressed: the picture was worse than a 1950s TV. At Voyager's suggestion, I replaced the camera, which improved the picture marginally; but I'm now wondering two things:
1. If I replace the monitor (which presumably dates from 2007 or so, and offers a black and white picture), am I likely to get an improved view?
2. Or could the problem be in the cable? And is there a way to test the signal quality coming to the monitor without spending lots of money?
I'd prefer not to go to a wireless system: I hate having to replace batteries if I don't have to.

We solved the cable problem by going with the Bluetooth wireless backup camera. It powers from the marker lights. It's just an extra little monitor that we stuck up out of the way.

I got a quick replacement from RV.Cams when I was on the road. They sent it to our next campground.

Okay, we'll check RV Cams when we start working on my friend's new '07 RV. The backup monitor isn't good and wants something very clear. He already ordered a new set of tires from 4Wheelonline and will be installed this weekend so we'll do the interior mods next week.

I have installed wireless backup cameras on 4 different RVs that I have owned (still own 3). They do NOT require batteries (which sounds like it was your concern). Very reasonably priced and a fairly easy DIY install if you are handy.

(I post as examples...you can find many different companies with similar products)
You can search for different sized monitors to your liking as well. The monitor mounts wherever you want it on your dash with double sided tape and is powered by your cigarette lighter socket.

BE aware that newer Ford chassis Class Cs with LED marker lights have a separate marker power supply that is around 11 volts and will not reliably drive wireless backup cameras tapped into them.
