I belong to a Northern California Chapter of the Good Sam Club. There's about 25 RV's that all camp together. No one in that group that I have spoken to has even heard of this forum. Facebook RV groups seem to be the more popular way to go. Sorry..No Facebook for me [emoticon].

I agree that there is good advice on forums and have had help from many folks over the years. However, when the questions start to run at the edge of absurd it makes reading them tedious. Example: Everything runs great in my 2001 Casita but when I stop at rest stops my A/C and outlets are not working. What is wrong with this camper? Does it need to go back to the dealer for repairs?

In actuality, it is about intelligence. Would you expect the toaster in the back of your car to work without being plugged in? Where are people coming from that the simplest of things that we use every day baffle and confuse them? They probably know that the charging adapter will nor work if it isn't plugged in or the hose will not put out any water unless connected to something. Last I checked, there is nothing about buying an rv that makes your brain fall out. Maybe some are used to having lamps that do not work at home because nobody told them to plug them in but those people should not be driving anything more complicated than a tricycle.

I don't know what forums they are going to but they are going to campgrounds. Way too common now to see trailers with boots on at least two wheels, security lights that go on when you are ten sites away and a whole picnic table of people soaking in the great outdoors by looking at it on their tablets. If your site is a shortcut to their site then get out of the way so they can get through. Most must be crawling out from under rocks as they seem to know nothing about human behavior. Too bad this hobby is being taken over by inconsiderate dolts. Glad that I only have a few years of camping left in me.
We used to come back from a trip relaxed and full of great encounters. Now, we get so disgusted that we either leave days early or end up going home swearing that we will never visit that campground again.
End of rant.

Well, I hate to sound so negative, but it's possible that what you're seeing is simply a reflection of your own negativity. You expect entitled, bad behaving campers, and that's what you see. I've not noticed any difference.

I am a firm believer you get back what you put out there.

I can understand some of what OCMan is saying.

As an example we camped in a rv park for years and enjoyed its location and others there. Well the owners sold out and the new owner changed the focus of the park. He did make several improvements but also some changes that did not sit well with us. It became a "family" park. It was a family park before the changes. The first season we endured with people walking through our site and letting their pets run loose and take dumps wherever they pleased. We thought possibly it was the location of our site. We tried a second season but it was worse. One "guest" walked right across under our awning while my wife and I were sitting there. Enough. We have not returned and will not return to that park.
The only thing I can say to OCMan is take your money elsewhere. There are parks out there that have not been overrun.

I do speak with my wallet. Give me a pleasant stay and I will come back. The unfortunate part of camping is that my encounters are far from unique or colored by any emotion. If someone does not like the things I have encountered, fine. It still does not change what I have encountered. Some folks like living in condos and I cannot understand it but that does not change that they like it. Reality is non-negotiable and it is different for every one of us. Some may see beautiful skyscrapers and the next person a crime riddled inner city. Your reality is yours. Mine is mine. In the end, I will shift back to a old adage "Don't judge someone until you have walked in their shoes". Yes, I was a newbee to the rv world once but made sure I did not make an ass of my self.

Am I the only one seeing the irony of this thread?

OP indirectly asked why this forum doesn't attract new campers and then others go into a rant on how ignorant and inconsiderate new campers are.
