This evening about 6 I encountered a family with their truck broke down towing a pretty long 5er just off I 40 in Durham NC. You know the place where they have averaged 2 shootings a day so far this year. They were in a parking lot where one had been killed in the last couple of months. I was little help other than to make them aware of their surroundings. Good Sam was coming to tow their trailer 99mi home but would only tow the truck to nearest place it could be fixed--ON SUNDAY? That was not a place to leave a nice truck even if at a repair facility near there. Sure wish I could have helped more and hope they made it home ok.

I took a wrong turn in San Antonio once and ended up in a bad neighborhood. A kind older gentleman came up and said, "Your lost aren't you." He promptly pointed me to the fastest way out and as I was driving off he said, "Be safe."

Though not RV related, I had a meeting in St.Louis once and had extra time after lunch. So wanted to go see the arch. Asked a salesman at a mall which subway should I take. He was very specific which direction I should go. Basically said if you go the apposite direction, it's been good knowing you.
Would you know it on the way back to my hotel, I did go the wrong direction and crossed over the river. Got off at the next stop to go back. Did look like a really rough, lawless area but just acted like I knew what I was doing and not a tourist.

Any place is a dangerous place if you are not aware of your surroundings and keeping your head on a swivel. Letting your guard down is more dangerous than being in any city.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be Douglas Adams
RV-less for now but our spirits are still on the open road.

The GOOD news (And it's not all that good) is the expected homicide total for this year is like 62% of what it was last year or the year before..
(So perhaps they stand a somewhat better chance of arriving home safely)
Other than "It's still too high" I won't comment farther.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

after a semi "nicked" it. Still have the radios

Wish I could say that for New Hampshire. Last year we had 19 homicides. Already this year we've had 22, five within the last week. A number of them have been in what most would call "sleepy little towns". Keep your guard up.
